Petsmile Review and Giveaway – A Clinically Proven Toothpaste That’s Worth the Wait!

If you’ve followed my blog for some time, you’ll recall my discussions about canine dental care. For those unfamiliar, here’s a brief rundown:

Owners of smaller breeds must be particularly watchful of their dog’s dental health. Given their tiny mouths, small dogs tend to face more dental challenges due to tooth crowding.

For years, I’ve sampled numerous dog toothpastes. Virbac was a standout, a brand I’ve trusted since my first pet. Yet, despite its effectiveness, its metal tube design is less than ideal. It tends to twist, rust, and even grow mold, making it challenging to use an entire tube.

That’s why the prospect of trying Petsmile’s toothpaste, backed by the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC), was so thrilling.

And the icing on the cake?

No brushing required! Though it’s advised to brush off food residue, just applying it is beneficial.

To understand Petsmile’s effectiveness, it’s essential to know what happens in a dog’s mouth. After meals, bacteria break down carbohydrates, resulting in acid formation. To shield the enamel from this acid, a protein-rich film called pellicle forms on the teeth shortly after eating.

While the pellicle protects teeth, it also attracts bacteria that can cause plaque, which, if not addressed, solidifies into tartar. Most toothpastes, for both humans and dogs, contain silica, which slightly erodes the pellicle but can damage the enamel over prolonged use.

Petsmile’s secret weapon is Calprox®. This combination of calcium peroxide and minerals dissolves the pellicle, fortifies the enamel, and prevents bacterial attachment. Intriguingly, the brand also produces a human variant called Supersmile.

The reason Petsmile is VOHC-certified? In tests, it showed a significant reduction in both plaque and gingivitis compared to other products. Remarkably, it’s the sole dog toothpaste with VOHC endorsement.

Our experience with Petsmile? After using it consistently for about six weeks, the results were evident. Matilda’s breath became noticeably fresher when we skipped a session. Though I failed to capture ‘before’ images, I feel Matilda’s teeth are in a better state now.

Cow, who had a dental cleaning recently, maintains impeccable teeth. Notably, both dogs enjoy Petsmile’s taste, especially the London broil flavor.

Moreover, Petsmile’s dual-sided toothbrush is a revelation. One side works well for Cow, while the smaller side is perfect for Matilda. It feels tailor-made for my needs.

To fellow dog owners who understand the importance of dental health: you must give Petsmile a try. Proper dental care can significantly impact your dog’s overall well-being, and finding the right product might just add more joyful years to their lives.
